THE MEMORY SERIES I:
by Kenneth L. King
Born March 7, 1957 in Clarendon, TX

“The night before the Super Bowl I was having dinner with my parents. The defensive coaching staff of the Eagles was also having dinner at the same restaurant. There was a Raider and Eagles banner on the wall above the coaching staff. After they completed their dinner I noticed the Raider’s banner crumpled and under the table. I approached the defensive coordinator outside the restaurant and told him that because you crumpled and threw the Raiders banner on the floor it would cost you!

When I ran into the endzone on this pass, I could only think of the night before. It was payback time and as I spiked the ball, it went right in the direction of the Eagles head coach. Man, what a feeling!”

From Super Bowl XV
January 25, 1981
Louisiana Superdome, New Orleans

Born Oct 13, 1962 in Crawford, Mississippi

“I had to make an adjustment on this catch. The ball was on the opposite side of my shoulder. My 200th came exactly the way I wanted it. Then I celebrated with my teammate Charlie Garner.”

“In Super Bowl 31 Reggie White took over the game by getting three sacks, this was one of them. Celebrating with Reggie was fun because he hated when we (my teammates) jumped on his back. But for some reason he didn’t care this time. I will never forget Reggie — this is why this is my favorite photo of all time.”

THE MEMORY SERIES IA:
by Timothy Donell Brown
Born July 22, 1966

“I have been fortunate enough to have plenty of “special moments” in my football career, dating back to my high school days. What you do in high school is one thing, college is another, but to achieve such a feat in the NFL, is something totally different. Jogging off the field, I felt as if my feet were not touching the ground. It is a moment in time that will be indelibly imprinted in my mind and on my career.”

The greatest [tag-tec]wide receiver[/tag-tec] to ever play in the NFL remembers a shining moment during a difficult time in 1989:

It was [tag-tec]October 22, 1989[/tag-tec] — the San Francisco 49ers vs. the New England Patriots. San Francisco had been devastated by an earthquake on October 17 and the 49ers were forced out of [tag-tec]Candlestick Park[/tag-tec] and into [tag-tec]Stanford Stadium[/tag-tec]. The game was tied 17-17 in the third quarter. On 3rd and 6, Jerry Rice scored a touchdown which led to a 37-20 victory over the Patriots. This moment in time, with Jerry’s arms up in the end zone, gave San Francisco something to cheer about in the wake of one of their biggest natural disasters.

“I caught the ball. My first thought was to get up field. The most important thing for me is to finish the play. So I’m thinking six the majority of the time. Creativity, break tackles, and score.”
