The greatest wide receiver to ever play in the NFL remembers a shining moment during a difficult time in 1989:
It was October 22, 1989 — the San Francisco 49ers vs. the New England Patriots. San Francisco had been devastated by an earthquake on October 17 and the 49ers were forced out of Candlestick Park and into Stanford Stadium. The game was tied 17-17 in the third quarter. On 3rd and 6, Jerry Rice scored a touchdown which led to a 37-20 victory over the Patriots. This moment in time, with Jerry’s arms up in the end zone, gave San Francisco something to cheer about in the wake of one of their biggest natural disasters.
